FREE PSA Day a Resounding Success
42 Nonprofits applied for this first time offering by SMC

The mood was upbeat, the team was fantastic and the scene was very professional according to Executive Director Audra Gibson and the many participants in SMC's first FREE PSA Day offered on April 23rd at the COS Studio.

Twenty-five clients filled the maximum available production slots and participated almost completely through an online application and project development process. This was an efficient way from our end to manage staff time involved in a project of this scope. Responses to a post event survey will be requested by all participants in order to improve our services. Special thanks to those who volunteered some time to make this event so successful: John Cumming, Audra Gibson, Therese Condit, Doug York, Linda Neal, Stephanie Hoffman, Brendan Butler, Kathy Blevins, Todd Cory, Wendy Murray, Barbara Wagner, Barbara Dillmann, Linda Sue Runnels and Beth Freeman. Watch for announcements about future opportunities and services from our Professional Production Services (PROPS) division.

Production Tips
Making television shows is not difficult when using modern equipment, good techniques, a team of willing volunteers, and pre-planning.
This month's tip: Finding Underwriters and Sponsors
Many producers might like some assistance with covering the costs of their annual producer fees, studio bookings, or bringing snacks for their volunteer crew. In these challenging economic times, perhaps a business would like to support your program in exchange for a mention on your show, and acknowledgements in the credits of your show. As an individual, you can approach anyone for financial support for your show and give them the above exposure. This is a personal arrangement between you and your underwriter or sponsor. What you can't do is give a 'call to action based on dollars' as in traditional commercial advertising. But there are lots of ways to creatively acknowledge support at the beginning, during or end of your show. Please contact Audra at 471-5910 for assistance. Businesses - if you would like to underwrite productions at MCTV15, you too can contact Audra to get the most bang for your supporting dollars.
