Telephone

What are our telephone needs for the organization? They might include:

  • a phone that rings in the studio when called during business hours;
  • automated voice mail for unanswered calls;
  • call forwarding;
  • individual voice mail accounts;
  • remove access to voice mail;
  • 24 hour availability for technical and content issues;
  • public information recordings;
  • accounts for governance, administration and staff;
  • multiple lines;
  • call transfer;
  • conference calls;
  • automatic routing of calls;
  • time based availability;
  • call in-show audio routing for live and recorded productions; and
  • call out-show audio routing for live and recorded productions.

Much of these services can be provided by a combination of VOIP systems and off the shelf software.

MCTV15 has a Skype account ( mctv15 ) with SkypeIn, SkypeOut and voice mail. This allows calls to/from landlines and mobiles. This costs $108 / year with 3,000 minutes/month of any time SkypeOut to the USA and Canada. - John Cumming

PrettyMay is a Skype software based private branch exchange (PBX) system. PBX's are the most powerful type of business telephone systems available. PrettyMay uses Skype to provide up to 30 concurrent telephones lines, 500 extensions, voice mail, auto-attendant, IVR, call route and call recording. Regular phones can be used to make and receive calls via PrettyMay. - John Cumming

As of Fri August 15th, 2008, I was able to negotiate a 50% discount on the PrettyMay software license and successfully purchased the software. The 50% discount represents a $250 saving. - John Cumming

Option 1
MCTV15 Studio COS is located on the Weed campus of the College of the Siskiyous. The office and television studio is in the Learning Resource Center Room 2.

Office hours are Tues - Thur 10am - 2pm
Studio hours are Tue 10am - 10pm depending on shooting schedule.

Option 2
MCTV15 is the public access television station that serves the communities of Weed, Mt. Shasta and Dunsmuir as well as the un-incoprated areas of South Siskiyou County. Our signal is available 24 hours a day on Northland cable television channel 15. Residents of our communities can submit DVD programming for cablecast on channel 15 free of charge. People outside of Siskiyou County need to find a local sponsor or pay a small airing fee. Follow the instructions on our website at mctv15.org for further submisson guidelines.

Option 3
MCTV15 cablecasts a variety of local and sponsored programming 24 hours a day on Northland Cable TV channel 15 serving southern Siskyou County. Our community bulletin board appears on Channel 15 from noon - 1 PM daily. Local government meetings appear live at their normally scheduled times.
